Organizational Biography

2001 to 2007

On April 1, 2001, the Associated Advocacy Center filed its Letters of Incorporation and became a minority run 501c3 public organization, with a goal to make a difference in the educational attainment of children with special needs. Our vision for the future is for “all” children to be appropriately educated because their parents will have the information necessary to give informed consent. Children will have the ability to be whatever they were born to be.

In this country even though education, by law, is supposed to be free and appropriate this is not what is happening for “subgroups”. A subgroup is defined as anyone who isn't a member of the dominant race, language, and culture; has a disability; has parents who are low income; or raised by a single parent. If you don’t know how to fight and maneuver through the education system, your child gets left behind regardless of the law. Only through community outreach, education, and organizing efforts, will we succeed at being a catalyst for change!

Visions for the Future:

It’s our time to be the change we wish to see in the world. Due to an overwhelming need in these and their surrounding communities, we will be opening offices in New Bedford, Brockton, and Boston. Also, through our partnerships and collaborations, we will open the first fully inclusive day care center with after school programs that foster diversity, education, and movement. Lastly, look for our new program initiative called “Miracle Workers” in 2008.
